Benjamin Yurosek Labeled as ‘Underrated’ Asset for Georgia Football

One NFL draft analyst called Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Benjamin Yurosek an “underrated” asset.

This offseason, the Georgia Bulldogs have been looking for help in the portal on both offense and defense. The program has drafted several wide receivers from around the country and snagged defensive lineman Xavier McLeod from South Carolina. Perhaps one of the more interesting additions head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have made to the roster is former Stanford middle linebacker Benjamin Yurosek, who is poised to be a factor for Georgia this season.

When Brock Bowers joined the Las Vegas Raiders, there were questions about how Georgia’s offense would function without one of the best tight ends to ever grace a college football field. Fortunately, Georgia had Oscar Delp waiting right behind Bowers to take over, but the Bulldogs were looking to find one more name to add to the roster. That’s when they found Yurosek from Stanford, who will be playing in the red and black this season.

Yurosek wasn’t exactly a household name when he announced his transfer to Georgia. Still, one NFL draft analyst explained that he believes the former Cardinal is an NFL-caliber American football player. Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy said Yurosek was poised to receive an invitation to the pre-draft bowl last season before suffering a season-ending injury, and he now calls Yurosek an “underrated” asset for the Bulldogs.

Over the past three seasons at Stanford, Yurosek has recorded 108 receptions for 1,342 yards and five touchdowns. He also had 14 carries for 114 yards. He became a versatile player at Stanford and will likely play a similar role at Georgia. The Bulldogs were never going to replicate Bowers’ skills on the football field, but they appear to have found a viable option to replace some of his production on offense alongside Delp.
