JSW Steel to invest in decarbonization initiatives : Chemical Industry Digest

JSW Steel plans to invest $1 billion to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. The initial phase, to be completed by 2030, aims to reduce emissions to 1.95 tonnes of CO2 per ton of steel.

The company plans to achieve net neutrality through green hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization and storage by 2050. As reported by projectstoday.com, the steel industry consumes almost twenty percent of the country’s industrial energy, which has prompted JSW Steel to adopt improved processes, energy efficiency measures, renewable energy sources, high-quality raw materials and alternative fuels.
