New Director at ECH – Australian Ageing Agenda

ECH has appointed Darryl Cotter as its new head of home and community services.

In a key role within the executive team of the aged care and retirement home provider, Mr Cotter will be responsible for developing and implementing ECH’s strategic plans to ensure the delivery of high quality care and regulatory compliance across all areas of the organisation.

Mr Cotter brings knowledge and experience from a range of sectors including retail to the role, with previous roles including state and national management positions at Coles Group, Target Australia and Spotlight.

ECH Chief Executive Claire Scapinello said Mr Cotter’s experience would be a huge asset to the South Australian provider as it prepares to transition to its new Home Support Program, which will commence on 1 July 2025.

“Darryl has a strong track record of driving operational and business excellence, building teams, and engaging and nurturing a culture of innovation,” she said. “His expertise will complement the excellent clinical capabilities within our broader care team and enhance our ability to deliver exemplary service to our clients.”

Mr. Cotter replaces Sally Sobels, who is retiring. “We also wish Sally a very happy and fulfilling retirement and thank her for her invaluable contribution in supporting and improving the lives of our clients over the past eight years,” Ms. Scapinello said.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Cotter said his initial focus would be on meeting frontline ECH staff. “With over 100 retirement villages across the state and such a wide range of services available, our home and community teams are well placed to support the wellbeing and independence of South Australians and make a positive impact on their lives.”
