Government to consult on revised national planning policy framework

The Government confirms it intends to consult on a revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) later this month. The NPPF sets out the Government’s planning policy for England and how it will be applied.

Meanwhile, the government has announced immediate changes to the current NPPF to “remove the de facto ban on onshore wind power in England”. These changes remove requirements that a site for an onshore wind turbine must be identified as suitable within a local or neighbourhood plan, and demonstrate that the planning implications identified by the affected local community have been adequately considered and the proposal has the support of the community.
