There are about 26.2 million e-commerce sites in the world, according to BuiltWith, which tracks 2,500 e-commerce technologies and attributes, including spend, revenue, number of employees, number of social media, industry, location and rank.

According to BuiltWith, the U.S. is home to 13.3 million e-commerce sites, the most of any country.

According to Statista, e-commerce accounted for about 19% of global retail sales in 2023 and will account for about 25% by 2027.

Additionally, according to Statista estimates, Turkey will experience the fastest e-commerce growth in the world between 2024 and 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 11.6%. Furthermore, with growth rates exceeding 11%, India and Brazil rank among the fastest-expanding e-commerce markets in the world.

What’s more, according to Statista, online retail in the United States will generate $1.88 trillion in revenue by 2029, although annual growth is projected to slow from 30.2% in 2020 to 4.7% in 2029.
