NEW CASTLE, Delaware, July 10, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Pyramid Educational Consultantsrenowned creators of the evidence-based Picture Communication System® (PECS®), present PECSTalk™groundbreaking augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) application.

This innovative app, now available on Android tablets, combines decades of proven, evidence-based strategies with cutting-edge technology to empower people to express their desires, needs, and perceptions. It will change the lives of people with complex communication needs, including those on the autism spectrum. The company plans to replace the early version of the iOS app later this year.

“We are excited to present PECSTalk™“an application that seamlessly combines our extensive knowledge of communication intervention with the convenience of modern technology,” he noted Lori FrostMS, CCC-SLP, Co-Founder of Pyramid Educational Consultants. “Our mission is to equip students with the foundational skills to communicate and engage effectively, ultimately improving their quality of life.”

PECSTalk™ is tailored to the unique needs of learners with complex communication challenges. Its user-friendly interface encourages independence and confidence in communication, helping individuals develop essential skills to navigate life in the present and future. PECSTalk’s unique design requires fewer steps than other apps to construct and pronounce a message, resulting in less frustration, more frequent communication, and less abandonment.

The app offers personalization options, including access to the comprehensive Pics for PECS® image library, customizable voice output options, and support for multiple languages. PECSTalk™ allows users to personalize their communication experience, ensuring optimal engagement and understanding based on the individual needs of the learner.

PECSTalk™ makes it easy to create multi-image Sentence Strips™ through a dedicated Sentence Starter™ page. Users can create up to 30 digital PECS book pages using the app’s voice function. The intuitive digital display mirrors the layout of a traditional PECS communication book while adapting to the expanded vocabulary of a speech-generating device (SGD). Users can back up, transfer, and share books across devices and platforms.

With PECSTalk™, students can seamlessly make requests, answer or ask questions, comment, and express feelings. By converting images and text into spoken language, the app enables non-speaking people to actively and fully participate in school, home, work, and community settings, supporting inclusivity and empowerment.

PECSTalk™ now allows caregivers and educators to back up, transfer data, and share books across devices and platforms. PECSTalk™ supports 14 languages and voices, allowing for the creation of bilingual books. The company will update the iOS app later this year.

Pyramid Educational Consultants continues to be committed to advancing communication support for people with autism and complex communication needs, and PECSTalk™ is evidence of their commitment to innovation and inclusion.
