Minsait accelerates AI implementation in transforming its services, productivity and software development quality

  1. Software development

Minsait, an Indra Group company, is accelerating the scaling of artificial intelligence in its processes and is implementing this resource both in its offering to customers and in the company’s internal transformation. in such important areas as the development of software solutions, service optimization or own internal productivity.

How Luis Abril, Executive Director of Indra and CEO of Minsait, explains: “We are the most advanced company in terms of implementing co-pilot tools for software development; a technology company that is not only developing its own AI implementation, but is also leading the scaling of this resource in many other organizations. All this allows us to have an advanced vision of the impact that AI has on internal processes and requires us to have the best solutions to make AI the ally it is meant to be, incorporating it into the offer for our clients, but also into our own developments or operations. It is necessary to use all its power to generate efficiencies in services and help us be more competitive, gaining productivity and ensuring quality.”

The scaling of AI is aligned with the strategic, operational and cultural transformation plan that Minsait has been involved in since November 2023, the main objective of which was to internally streamline the mass adoption of AI in all its derivatives. To this end, he created EscuderIA Minsait, an internal program that accelerates the adoption of GitHub Copilot by development teams, a solution developed by GitHub, OpenAI and Microsoft, based on a generative AI model. It is a coding assistant that helps developers generate code and test cases efficiently, consistently, with high quality and taking into account good security practices. It allows the interpretation of existing code in natural language and accompanies experts throughout the development process, offering suggestions for semi-automatic software development or compiling documentation.

However, Incorporating AI into software development is just one area where digital companies are working to implement AI internally. At the same time, the company is transforming its processes in two other very specific areas: the development of services and solutions offered to customers and the internal productivity of its specialists.

Therefore, as part of the transformation of its services and offerings, the technology company has identified accelerators and proprietary solutions combining robotics with traditional AI and generative AI (which it has named alIAdos), directly related to its evolution and operation, not only in offering solutions, but also in the way it serves its customers, e.g. through automatic and essential processes such as demand forecasting, information extraction for forms, functional support, etc.

At last, Minsait has expanded its use of Copilot for Microsoft 365 in its internal productivity department, a Microsoft solution the company is helping other organizations implement. Thanks to the development of artificial intelligence, Minsait can standardize processes that were previously performed mechanically and did not require much involvement from experts, such as writing e-mails, creating PowerPoint presentations, recording meetings, automatically preparing Excel spreadsheets or translating meetings into other languages.

From resistance to change, to simply adapting to professional requirements, to the threat of stagnating levels of development and results, the challenges that must be faced when implementing assistants and scaling AI in companies are not few. Minsait reminds us, however, that specialist support, retraining of specialists and the availability of a measurement-based methodology that allows us to re-evaluate the actions taken are the basic assumptions that allow us to provide a guarantee of the penetration of the organization by these resources.

Software development

One of the main business applications where AI is already showing its potential as an ally is co-piloting software developmentIn this area, Minsait’s progress is particularly significant, as the company already has over 2,500 co-pilot licenses and plans to engage over 10,000 professionals in change management in the medium term.

The company currently highlights its satisfaction with the acceptance rates achieved when using this tool: in 77% of cases, the quality level of analysis of the developed codes was considered high or very high, and 90% of users have already recommended the use of GitHub Copilot to other specialists. Thanks to the profiles, the digital company has discovered that the youngest users adapt better to the role of the co-pilot as a “collaborator” because they rely on it directly and gain more autonomy. Older professionals were initially more reluctant to adapt, although after overcoming this phase it became an ally in focusing on new perspectives in the development of innovative solutions.

More than 550 Minsait teams from over 10 geographic regions work to implement a proprietary methodology based on measurement and continuous improvement; and share information and consultations within the internal community, which already has 2,130 members, as human interaction and sharing use cases has proven to be one of the main drivers of artificial intelligence (AI) in the organization’s structure.
