Samsung Launches Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 with New Galaxy AI

Samsung on Wednesday launched new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 series devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a processor Samsung says is optimized for generative AI processing and offers improved graphics and better overall performance.

The devices will be equipped with improved cooling systems, and the Galaxy Z Flip will be equipped with a vapor chamber for the first time for better cooling properties.

The new Galaxy Z series also features improved aluminum armor and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back.

Galaxy Z Fold 6: Specs

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 7.6-inch main screen with up to 2,600 nits of brightness and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. It has a 6.3-inch external screen with the same refresh rate and maximum brightness as the main display.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 allegedly has a 1.6 times larger vapor chamber to dissipate heat.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes with a 4400 mAh battery, but a charger is not included in the box.

Samsung has packed a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor into both the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage in the Fold 6, while the Flip 6 has 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Both devices run One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 out of the box.

Samsung has promised seven years of operating system and security updates for the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 10-megapixel front lens on the cover display, while there is a 4-megapixel in-display lens. On the back, it has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50-megapixel main lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor.

Both the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are IP48 rated.

In addition, the device offers a range of AI-based features and tools that make the most of the large screen and significantly increase productivity.

Note Assist in Samsung Notes offers translation, summarization, and auto-formatting for simple and easy meeting notes. In addition, the new embedded transcription feature lets you transcribe, translate, and summarize voice recordings right in Notes.

Texts in PDF files can be perfectly translated and overlaid using the PDF overlay translation feature in the Notes app. This feature even supports text in images and charts.

Samsung has also added a new Composer from Samsung Keyboard feature that uses simple keywords to generate suggested text for emails and supported social media apps.

Composer lets you create content specifically for social media by analyzing previous posts.

The S-pen user interface has been updated with the new “Sketch & Create” feature, which allows users to create more sophisticated works of art by generating image options while sketching or drawing on photos in the Gallery or on the Notes screen.

Other updates to the Samsung Z series include improved integration with Google’s Gemini overlay and the Circle to Search feature.

With Galaxy AI, users can also use Interpreter, which now has a new conversation mode that allows both parties to conveniently view translations on the home screen and external screens for more natural interactions. It also offers one-way translation. Live Translate, which translates phone conversations directly on the device in real time, is now expanding beyond Samsung’s native calling app to a selection of popular third-party apps.

Photography enthusiasts can take advantage of the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s advanced photo editing feature, Photo Assist.

Portrait Studio can now be used to create different portrait styles, such as 3D cartoons or watercolors. In addition, Instant Slow-motion allows users to instantly slow down a video by generating additional frames while maintaining smooth viewing.

Galaxy Z Flip 6: Specs

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The main display is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED with a 1-120Hz refresh rate.

Galaxy Z Flip comes with photo wallpapers that change in real time depending on the time of day and weather.

The device is equipped with new 50MP wide-angle and 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensors. The 50MP sensor supports 2x optical zoom while also offering AI zoom for an advanced photography experience with up to 10x zoom. It has a 10MP front camera on the main display for selfies.

The Galaxy Z Flip has a 4000mAh battery, but there is no charger in the box.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be available in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also available in Silver Shadow, Yellow, Blue, and Mint.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Buds 3 series will be available for pre-order starting July 10, with general availability beginning July 24.

Prices for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 start at Rs 1,64,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant, the 12GB/512GB will cost Rs 1,76,999, and the 12GB/1TB variant will be priced at Rs 2,00,999.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 starts at Rs 109,999 for the 12GB/256GB version, while the 12GB/512GB version costs Rs 121,999.
