Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Fertilizer Stocks Rise as Market Falls

NEW DELHI: Fertilizer stocks were trading higher at 10:49 am on Thursday, with top gainers including Khaitan Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (up 1.32%), Madhya Bharat Agro Products Ltd. (up 1.17%), Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. (up 1.12%), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (up 1.08%), National Fertilizers Ltd. (up 1.00%), Sikko Industries Ltd. (up 0.91%), Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corporation Ltd. (up 0.87%), Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. (up 0.70%), Aries Agro Ltd. (up 0.70%) and Krishana Phoschem Ltd. (up 0.67%).

Top losers included Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. (down 0.96%), Coromandel International Ltd. (down 0.80%), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (down 0.32%), Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. (down 0.17%), Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals Ltd. (down 0.11%) and The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (down 0.08%).

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 79.91 points at 24,244.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 322.78 points at 79,601.99 around 10:49 am.

Top gainers on the Nifty included Coal India Ltd. (up 2.94%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (up 1.55%), Tata Motors Ltd. (up 1.49%), Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 1.02%), Tata Steel Ltd. (up 0.9%), ITC Ltd. (up 0.78%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (up 0.76%), Titan Company Ltd. (up 0.72%), Adani Enterprises Ltd. (up 0.56%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (up 0.53%).

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (down 1.58%), Nestle India Ltd. (down 1.45%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (down 1.36%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (down 1.17%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (down 1.02%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (down 0.94%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 0.93%), Cipla Ltd. (down 0.87%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (down 0.87%) and UltraTech Cement Ltd. (down 0.83%) were trading in the red.
