Samsung has officially launched its latest entries into the foldable smartphone segment: the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Unveiled at its Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event, Samsung has launched its latest foldable devices with an emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and expanded software support. The significant price difference between the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 underscores the distinct target groups for each device, with the Z Fold 6 aimed at power users and multitaskers, while the Z Flip 6 is aimed at those looking for a more compact and stylish foldable option.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 India Price & Availability

The Galaxy Z Fold 6, which has a book-like design, is priced starting at Rs 164,999 for the base 256GB variant. Potential buyers looking for more storage can opt for the 512GB variant for Rs 176,999, while the top-of-the-range 1TB model costs a whopping Rs 200,999. For those interested in the clamshell-style foldable model, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is priced starting at Rs 109,999 for the 256GB configuration.

Samsung has announced that these devices will be available for pre-order starting July 10. Official shipping is set to begin on July 24, and the devices will be available in several global markets.

Advanced AI integration

Both of Samsung’s new foldable smartphone models feature Samsung’s proprietary Galaxy AI features that enhance user experience and usability. They also support Google’s Circle to Search and Gemini AI chatbot, enhancing their artificial intelligence (AI) and search capabilities.

Samsung has committed to providing seven years of Android and security updates for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The latest version of Samsung’s foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, offers dual-SIM functionality, supporting both Nano and eSIM options. It comes pre-installed with Android 14, featuring Samsung’s custom One UI 6.1.1. At its core, the device is powered by a specially optimized version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, accompanied by 12GB of RAM.

The Z Fold 6 has two different displays. The outer screen is a 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with an HD+ resolution (968×2376 pixels) and a pixel density of 410 ppi. When folded out, users can enjoy a larger 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display, offering a QXGA+ resolution (1856×2160 pixels) and a pixel density of 374 ppi. Both screens include adaptive refresh rate technology that can adjust between 1 Hz and 120 Hz for optimal performance and power efficiency.

Samsung’s compact foldable offering, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, shares many features with its larger counterpart. It runs the latest version of Android with Samsung’s custom UI overlay. The device supports dual-SIM functionality and is powered by the same powerful processor as the Z Fold 6, complemented by 12GB of RAM. Memory options expand to 512GB.

The device includes the same set of connectivity and sensors found in the Z Fold 6. It’s powered by a 4,000mAh battery that supports the same charging options as its bigger brother. Security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the phone has an IP48 rating against dust and water.

For photography, the Z Flip 6 is equipped with a dual camera setup on the outside. The main camera is a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens with Dual Pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization, and an f/1.8 aperture. It is paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a wide 123-degree field of view. For selfies and video calls, a 10-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture is placed in the main screen.

The Flip 6 has two displays. When closed, users interact with a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720×748 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate, and 306 pixels per inch. The main internal display folds out to reveal a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex panel. This screen offers a Full-HD+ resolution (1080×2640 pixels) and uses adaptive refresh rate technology, adjusting between 1Hz and 120Hz as needed.
