CEE Group, a Hamburg-based asset manager specializing in renewable energy sources, has acquired a photovoltaic project in San Pedro del Pinatar, located in the Murcia region of southern Spain. The acquisition is part of the newly launched CEE Renewable Fund 8 (CEE RF8). The solar park with a total peak capacity of 102.5 MWp is currently under construction and is scheduled to be connected to the grid in the second half of 2025. The vendor and EPC contractor is a European corporation with extensive experience in developing, constructing and operating renewable energy facilities. Earlier in 2021, CEE Group acquired a 50 MWp photovoltaic project in Villanueva from the same company, which will also operate the plant for an initial period of five years.

Murcia, one of the sunniest regions in Spain with 346 hours of sunshine per month, provides an ideal location for photovoltaic projects. At full capacity, the San Pedro del Pinatar solar park can supply green energy to 47,500 homes. The project will use a power purchase agreement (PPA) to sell the electricity it generates.

The CEE RF8 Fund, launched in late 2023, is a closed-end alternative investment fund (AIF) with a planned size of EUR 750 million. It focuses on hybridization projects, wind and solar parks and storage technology. The fund aims to expand the existing wind farms in the CEE Group portfolio by adding additional photovoltaic systems and storage solutions. It complies with the requirements of Article 9 of the EU taxonomy and is tailored to the needs of institutional investors.

“Murcia offers excellent conditions for photovoltaic projects. The acquisition of the project in Pinatar is a valuable addition to our CEE RF8 fund. Together with the photovoltaic park in Stüdenitz Schönermark in Brandenburg, acquired in January, the solar park in San Pedro del Pinatar provides a solid foundation for the fund, ensuring attractive long-term returns for our investors,” said Detlef Schreiber, CEO of CEE Group. “I am also pleased that we can strengthen our relationship with one of our Spanish partners, with whom we have completed our second successful transaction.”

CEE Group currently manages 47 onshore wind farms with an installed capacity of 655 MWp and over 54 photovoltaic projects with a capacity of 1.2 GWp across Europe. Through its funds, the company provides institutional investors with opportunities to invest and actively drive the energy transformation.
