JKTPO E-commerce Recruitment Campaign Reaches Srinagar to Support and Empower Local Entrepreneurs

DC Srinagar highlights the key role of digital commerce in business development

SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Continuing its efforts to promote local entrepreneurs, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in association with District Administration Srinagar and leading e-commerce players organised a successful e-commerce recruitment drive at Banquet Hall Srinagar today to boost the economic growth and potential of local entrepreneurs in the region.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat addressed the forum accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Fayaz Ahmad Dar. The main objective of the drive was to reach out to the local communities to promote local products and make the entrepreneurs/artisans aware of the benefits of selling products on e-commerce platforms and expand their business in the global market. The drive is in line with the planned drives to be held across the UT to introduce local products on e-commerce platforms. The event attracted an exciting and active participation of 200 participants including women entrepreneurs, retailers, artisans, exporters, growers and FPOs. The event highlighted the benefits of implementing on e-commerce platforms and encouraged the participants to join the online market.

During this full day drive, 25 participants were registered on-site for free from different sectors and the rest started the onboarding process. The drive included in-depth expert sessions on the benefits of selling products on e-commerce platforms. In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the key role of digital commerce in business development during his welcome speech. He provided insights on e-commerce networks and highlighted the numerous benefits of joining a platform.

The onboarding activity is in line with JKTPO’s commitment to supporting local exporters by providing diversified marketing platforms and forward linkages. Earlier, JKTPO representatives highlighted the importance of ODOP and DEH initiatives and the benefits of onboarding products on e-Commerce platform. Maqbool Shah from GeM gave a detailed presentation on the importance of GeM and the registration process on GeM portal and facilitated onboarding of participants on GeM portal.

Rafi Ahmad Tramboo, State Revenue Officer, Srinagar, gave a PowerPoint presentation on GST, its importance for doing business online and the registration process. Khalid Chesti STO, Abdul Rouf Shah STO, Majeed ul Islam STO were also present on the occasion. The highlight of the event was the one-on-one introductory sessions where sellers and partners were directly introduced to the GeM portal. This hands-on approach allowed participants to integrate quickly into the market. The event showcased the commitment of JKTPO and the district administration to empower local entrepreneurs and facilitate their entry into the global e-commerce landscape by providing a platform for small businesses to reach out to a global audience. This initiative aims to boost economic growth and create sustainable opportunities for the vibrant entrepreneurial community of Jammu and Kashmir.
