Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Energy Stocks Up, Sensex Down

NEW DELHI: Energy stocks ended lower on Thursday with top gainers being GE Power India Ltd. (up 6.27%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd. (up 5.37%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd. (up 5.00%), Indowind Energy Ltd. (up 4.98%), Jyoti Structures Ltd. (up 4.97%), SJVN Ltd. (up 4.94%), NHPC Ltd. (up 4.83%), NLC India Ltd. (up 4.03%), PTC India Ltd. (up 3.66%) and Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (up 3.57%).

Energy Development Company Ltd. (down 2.03%), JSW Energy Ltd. (down 1.58%), RattanIndia Power Ltd. (down 1.44%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd. (down 1.43%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (down 1.38%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India) Ltd. (down 1.21%), NTPC Ltd. (down 1.13%), Torrent Power Ltd. (down 0.99%), Adani Power Ltd. (down 0.95%) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (down 0.94%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day down 8.5 points at 24,315.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 27.43 points at 79,897.34.

Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (up 2.22%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (up 2.09%), Coal India Ltd. (up 1.9%), ITC Ltd. (up 1.6%), Tata Motors Ltd. (up 1.53%), State Bank of India (up 0.91%), Asian Paints Ltd. (up 0.86%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 0.81%), Titan Company Ltd. (up 0.74%) and LTIMindtree Ltd. (up 0.59%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (down 1.69%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (down 1.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (down 1.25%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (down 1.18%), NTPC Ltd. (down 1.13%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (down 1.06%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (down 0.94%), Nestle India Ltd. (down 0.89%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 0.84%) and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (down 0.8%) ended in the red.
