Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 officially unveiled

Samsung officially announced its latest foldable smartphones on Wednesday, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6.

This year, Samsung has focused on phones, integrating Galaxy AI with Google AI and Google Gemini. The phones are also thinner, brighter, and have higher-resolution foldable displays.

The new Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 are now available for pre-order in Kenya in authorized Samsung stores and e-commerce partners from 11t July to 31saint July.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, which is the big brother here, starts at Ksh 264,000 in the local price. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip6 starts at 148,000 Kenyan shillings.

Galaxy Z Flip6

Some of the major improvements Samsung has made to the 6th generation Flip are better cameras and Google AI integration. The phone is also thinner, lighter, and finally has a longer battery life.

Google’s AI capabilities built into the phone include live translations between languages, which we saw on the Galaxy S24. We also get access to Google’s Gemini AI app, which lets you chat with the AI ​​to compose text and perform a wide range of other tasks.

The case display is AMOLED and measures 3.4 inches, has a maximum brightness of 1600 nits, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and offers a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels. When unfolded, the main Dynamic AMOLED 2z display measures 6.7 inches with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels, a maximum brightness of 2600 nits, and an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz.

When folded, the device measures just 3.35 x 2.83 x 0.59 inches, so it fits easily in your pocket.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy processor, which has a processing speed of up to 3.4 GHz. This makes it Samsung’s fastest foldable phone. The phone also has an IP48 water resistance rating. Samsung has committed to supporting the phone with new OS and security updates for seven years.

We get a 50MP resolution for the main wide-angle camera, which is complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. With Photo Assist with Galaxy AI, Samsung has also given users improved tools for easier photo and video editing.

Galaxy Z Fold6

My favorite is the Galaxy Z Fold6, the perfect phone for multitasking.

When folded out, you get a 7.6-inch touchscreen that’s fully compatible with the included S Pen. The outer screen is 6.3 inches, with a resolution of 2376 x 968, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The biggest update over last year’s Z Fold5 is the addition of Google AI.

Phone Features 4400 mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for Galaxy which delivers 18% faster CPU performance, 19% faster GPU performance and improved– AI performance compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Samsung also promises seven years of support for OS and security updates.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 comes in three variants: 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage. It’s now lighter, weighing just 239 grams instead of 253 grams for the Z Fold 5.

The Fold 6’s camera hardware is the same as last year. You still get a 50-megapixel main rear camera and a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens. However, Samsung has updated the 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens this year, which Samsung says promises better low-light performance.

Samsung says that customers who pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold6 will receive a slim S Pen case, while those who pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip6 will receive a flip case kit.
