Mays Landing man pleads guilty to possessing explosives during overdose at mother’s home: Feds

Robert Moser, 32, pleaded guilty Monday, July 8, to one count of possession of a destructive device, New Jersey U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a news release. He was accused in August 2023, several months after officers arrived at his mother’s home when she called 911 and reported that he was unconscious.

According to court documents and testimony, police found four explosive devices in Moser’s bedroom while giving him Narcan. Each device contained explosive powder and a fuse.

One device had metal parts inside, while the second had a metal nail and a protruding metal screw hook. The third device contained another protruding metal screw hook, and the fourth had five metal aileron tips.

Moser admitted that all four devices were “functional weapons.” Police also found fireworks, battery-powered items, wires, fuses, screws, bolts, unidentified liquids, an aerosol can and duct tape in Moser’s closet.

Moser faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The verdict in Moser’s case is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13.
