The Future of Human-AI Partnership in Industry Transformation

BENGALURU: Artificial intelligence (AI) may seem like a new technology, but AI tools have been around for years. Historically, machines that could exhibit human-like cognitive abilities were called AI. The technology later evolved, and AI is now being used across all sectors. On AI Appreciation Day, which falls on July 16, experts say there are endless opportunities in sectors like healthcare, finance, agriculture, education and manufacturing, where intelligent AI can work seamlessly with humans to solve complex problems.

“The future of human-AI partnerships holds exciting possibilities for innovation, creativity and intelligent systems, opening up numerous possibilities that will drive transformation and productivity. Human-AI collaboration will help organizations unlock value through operational efficiency, enhanced customer experiences, hyper-personalization and real-time insights,” said Sukant Patro, Senior Director, Dell Technologies. AI Appreciation Day is celebrated to recognize the potential of AI, as well as understand the ethical implications of the technology.

Emphasis on responsible use

Srinivasulu Nasam, senior technical director – GenAI for systems and software engineering at Bosch Global Software Technologies, says that Generative AI has the ability to create new content and have human-like conversations, thereby eliminating the need to design and train new models for each problem that needs to be solved. “Generative AI is positively impacting many aspects of business and industry. However, the disruptive potential of Generative AI also requires a shift in perspective; these advanced tools should not be viewed as mere tools but as potential partners,” he says, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability and honesty as guiding principles in this new era of human-AI collaboration.

Experts also emphasize how important it is for artificial intelligence to be in its rightful place as a tool, an enabler and accelerator of the development of human capabilities.

“While AI will never replace humans, it has the exponential power to transform processes, systems and customer experiences. AI complements human efforts by increasing efficiency, accuracy and agility, freeing up time for more strategic tasks, creativity and innovation. The true appreciation of AI would be to acknowledge its immense power to benefit humanity, within the bounds of clearly defined ethics, standards and commitment to responsible use,” says Bidhan Roy, Vice President, AI Center of Excellence, Fidelity Investments India.

Agile must also evolve

As a technologist, Rakesh Ravuri, CTO and SVP Engineering, Publicis Sapient, has witnessed the evolution of the engineering landscape and says that to fully leverage the power of AI, you need to keep up with the pace of technological change. “This is where agility becomes essential. For example, when Agile was introduced 20 years ago, it gained significant popularity thanks to cloud and web technologies that enabled rapid iterations and daily deployments. Today, we are at a new crossroads as AI transforms software development. Agile must also evolve to incorporate AI into its framework,” he explains. The synergy between Agile and AI not only speeds up development: it enriches the process with data-driven insights, making it more adaptive and intelligent, Ravuri adds.
