Japanese firm Inpex chooses Australia for $1.25 billion renewable energy expansion

TOKYO — Inpex will invest more than 200 billion yen ($1.25 billion) in renewable energy projects in Australia by 2030, Nikkei has learned, as the Japanese energy giant aims to make the continent an export base for “green” hydrogen.

Enel Green Power Australia, a joint venture with Italian utility Enel, aims to increase its renewable energy generating capacity from the current 300 megawatts to 2,000-4,000 MW by 2030.
