The Star confirms Sydney casino’s new CFO and CEO

Neale O’Connell and Janelle Campbell have received all necessary regulatory approvals.

Australia.- Star Entertainment Group confirms nominations Neale O’Connell as interim group financial director and Janelle Campbell as CEO of The Star Sydney after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals.

Neale O’Connell’s appointment was announced on 22 March following the resignation of Christina Katsibouba. O’Connell served as global CFO of Corporate Travel Management from 2019 to 2021 and was group CFO of Tatts Group from 2012 to 2018. Katsibouba, who worked at the company for nine years, including two as head of finance, left to pursue other interests.

Janelle Campbell’s appointment as CEO of The Star Sydney was announced on January 25. Campbell served as CFO and Financial Controller at Conrad Treasury in BrisbaneExecutive Director of Finance Conrad Jupiters and Treasury Casinos in Queensland (2003-2004) and Senior Vice President of Finance Melco Resorts & Entertainment in Macau (2008-2018). Campbell also held a senior management position with an Australian hospitality company. Campbell will also join the board of The Star Sydney.

The statements come weeks after a company called Steve McCann as CEO and Managing Director. He replaced David Fosterwho was appointed CEO on an interim basis following the resignation of Robbie Cooke in March.

The casino operator described McCann as highly experienced global director with 28 years of experience in gaming, entertainment and real estate. In his most recent role, he was CEO and Managing Director of Crown Resorts. Before that, he spent more than a decade as Group CEO of Lendlease Corporation Limited. Prior to joining Lendlease in 2005, McCann held senior management positions at ABN AMRO and Bankers Trust.
