Austrian Post introduces 11,000 mobile devices

As part of its ongoing technological transformation, Austrian Post has provided its employees with more than 11,000 new mobile devices that enable them to work more efficiently and conveniently.

The devices, which have been rolled out across Austria since February, are more ergonomic and allow employees to easily scan packages and get signatures from recipients. The post office has invested almost 9 million euros ($9.82 million) in new hardware and software.

“The new mobile devices are an important part of Austrian Post’s digital transformation,” explains Walter Oblin, Deputy CEO, Member of the Board of Management for Post and Finance, Österreichische Post. “We are creating a new digital infrastructure that will enable our delivery staff to manage Austrian Post’s product and service portfolio on a daily basis, from online order parcels to ballots and office deliveries. Our employees and then our customers will benefit from this technological boost.”

The new Zebra TC 27 mobile devices also provide the foundation for future service expansion, such as direct-to-seller card payments, route and area planning, route guidance and mailbox control.

Continuous development and updating of the firmware guarantee a high level of IT security, while the hardware and software also enable the development and integration of additional applications.
