July Update for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S21 and Other Samsung Devices

After a slow start, Samsung is quickly catching up on the July update backlog, culminating in last week’s release of the latest security patch for about a dozen Galaxy devices. The new week started on the same note. The July security patch is rolling out to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S21 series, and Galaxy A24 5G in various parts of the world. More devices should join the fun soon.

Samsung Releases July Update for Galaxy S23 Series

The July Security Maintenance Release (SMR) is available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in Europe and Asia. The updated firmware build number for European units is S91*BXXS6CXFEwhile in the case of Asian versions it is S91*BXXS6CXFC. Well, the build number may differ in some Asian markets like China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. However, the changelog should remain the same.

Speaking of the changelog, the update is all about security patches. Samsung is rolling out over 60 security flaw fixes as part of its latest monthly SMR. These releases also include patches from Google. This month, both companies have patched at least six critical security holes. This update should soon reach other markets, including the US. Stay tuned for a notification about the July update on your Galaxy S23.

The same security patches are also being rolled out to the Galaxy S21 series in Europe and Asia. The build numbers in both regions are G99*BXXSCGXF5 AND G99*BXXSCGXF4respectively. Again, it’s the same changelog. Samsung should be preparing to expand the rollout to more markets. You can check for updates in the Settings app. Go to the Software Update menu and tap Download and Install.

The Galaxy A24 is also receiving Samsung’s July update. At the time of writing, Samsung is updating this mid-range phone to the latest security patch in Latin America. The update bumps the device’s firmware version to A245MUBU5CXEC. While the phone hasn’t made it to the US, the Korean company has been selling it in Africa, Asia, and a few other regions. It shouldn’t be long before the July update reaches those markets.

Premium Galaxy devices will soon receive a major feature update

The August update is expected to be a big one for Samsung’s high-end phones, tablets, and foldables, including the Galaxy S23 series. The company will be touting the new AI features and camera improvements it introduced last week on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The Galaxy S24 series could also receive additional camera tweaks. The rollout could begin in late July or early August. Stay tuned for more details.
