Ryder Acquires Pit Stop to Expand Mobile Maintenance Services

Ryder System plans to expand its retail mobile device maintenance offering with the acquisition Pit Stop Fleet Service.

Ryder Ryder’s Torque According to the release, the mobile retail maintenance offering was launched in summer 2023 and covers trucks, trailers, vans, refrigerated vehicles, construction and commercial vehicles, passenger and shuttle buses and emergency service vehicles.

With the acquisition of Pit Stop, which was founded in 1997 and offers retail maintenance for mobile fleets, Torque by Ryder will be available in 140 cities in 20 states, the release said. Ryder plans to expand its service to more states this year.

Ryder to fully integrate Pit Stop employees, assets and operations, with support from Pit Stop co-founders Ron Perry AND Connie Perryaccording to the announcement.

When Ryder launched Torque by Ryder in six states in July 2023, it said the service would enable businesses and fleet owners schedule, receive, track and pay for services via desktop and mobile devices, and have services delivered on-site, without the need for long-term contracts.

The service involves sending a technician to a customer’s location to perform the same work the company offers in its Ryder stores., Jordan Wagnervice president and general manager of Torque by Ryder, told PYMNTS in an interview published in July 2023.

“So, preventive maintenance services — think oil changes, federal DOTs, things like that — we provide them through a 100% mobile experience where customers can make their own appointments, they can set up themselves, they can track our vehicles, they can pay online,” Wagner said.
