Eurofins acquires UK chemical consultancy Salamon & Seaber

Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK has acquired Salamon & Seaber, a test analysis consultancy that specialises in FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations) and GAFTA (The Grain and Feed Trade Association) testing for imported products including food, feed and oils, as well as damaged cargo testing.

Founded in 1910 and based in the City of London, Salamon & Seaber offers a wide range of UKAS accredited analytical services covering oils, seeds, fats, cereals, grains and pulses.

The company is managed by Michael Blotz, who has worked there for over 40 years.

“Salamon & Seaber has built an enviable reputation as an industry recognised expert in FOSFA, GAFTA, commodity and feed testing,” said Mark Carnaghan, Managing Director of Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK.

He added: “Like Eurofins, our team really prides itself on providing a reliable testing service that delivers the highest levels of quality and standards to a wide range of customers.”

Blotz said the acquisition marks a “new chapter” for Salamon & Seaber, in which the company’s principles of delivering trusted, personalized services will be “sustained and strengthened” within the Eurofins group.

Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK, supported by the group’s global network of laboratories and competence centres, offers over 200,000 analytical methods to determine the safety, composition, authenticity, origin, traceability and purity of food and water.

The acquisition will strengthen Eurofins’ presence in the UK market and expand its range of specialist analytical testing for imported food, feed and related products.
