Qatar embraces technology and innovation across sectors under Digital Agenda 2030

Doha, Qatar: Through continuous innovation and adoption of new technologies, Qatar is achieving the vision set out in the Digital Agenda 2030.

The country is revolutionizing the technological landscape, driving growth, innovation and empowerment across multiple sectors.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in an article posted on its X platform, highlighted three trends that Qatar is benefiting from in its efforts to achieve the goals of the Digital Agenda 2030. The digital transformation enabled by the Digital Agenda 2030 will have a knock-on effect across all sectors of the economy.

The project is expected to generate a total impact of around QR40 billion in manufacturing, energy, tourism, logistics, financial services and education and create 26,000 jobs in the ICT sector by 2030.

Qatar’s digital transformation journey aligns with the country’s broader vision to diversify its economy and establish itself as a knowledge-based economy. The three hypertrends that are driving digital transformation in Qatar are HyperConnectivity, HyperComputing, and HyperAutomation, the post noted.

Through understanding and intelligent application, HyperConnectivity can be used as a tool for influence, where citizens can create and share new ideas that can have the impact of changing the world.

HyperComputing is the unparalleled capacity to power smart cities and cloud computing. Processing and analyzing the amount of data the world requires, and generating it at the speed it needs. HyperAutomation is AI and automation to drive innovation and efficiency. Even in its early days, machine learning, AI, and large language models (LLMs) promise to help Qatar achieve more than ever before.

Qatar is integrating AI into its national agenda to drive technological sovereignty, economic diversification, and ensure leadership in AI innovation. Key strategies include establishing a regulatory framework, developing a sovereign AI infrastructure, establishing an AI economic cluster, and applying AI in government and key sectors.

The launch of the Al Fanar Arabic artificial intelligence project was announced during the opening speech of the Qatar Economic Forum 2024.

The country has allocated a QR9 billion incentive package to support a comprehensive digital transformation.

The project will primarily focus on collecting high-quality data in Arabic, which will contribute to enriching large-scale linguistic models and preserving the Arabic identity.

By harnessing the unlimited potential of HyperAutomation, Qatar is embarking on a journey towards a future where possibilities are limitless.

HyperAutomation is driving exponential growth in the amount of computation used in the largest AI training cycles, doubling their power every 3.4 months.

To achieve the vision and mission of the Digital Agenda 2030, Qatar has developed a set of projects, grouped into six strategic goals.

The post further stated that these three cutting-edge technologies support the six strategic goals of the Digital Agenda 2030, which include a cutting-edge digital infrastructure, a growing digital economy, thriving digital innovation, seamless digital government, evolving digital technologies, and a leading digital society of the future.

The Digital Agenda 2030 opens the way to a bright digital future.

It added that through this programme, Qatar aims to become a centre of technological excellence.
