Infinity Power signs 4GW renewable energy MOU in Cameroon

Cairo -Mubasher: The power of infinity signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cameroon Western Regional Council to develop solar, wind, hydro, biomass and battery projects with a combined capacity of four gigawatts (GW).

According to a press release, the projects are scheduled to be completed by 2035.

The transactions will cover projects across Western Region implemented in stages, aimed at increasing domestic electricity supplies using clean energy sources.

Cameroon The country now relies heavily on gas and hydropower, and electricity demand has increased by 27% in two decades.

UN-Habitat will provide technical support, conduct feasibility studies, create a governance framework and ensure community benefits.

Jules Hilaire Focka Focka, president of the West Cameroon regional council, stressed: “Our strategic development plan includes the creation of a dry port and a rail system that will connect the region to the port. We need energy to power the electric train and our industry.”

Vincent Kitio, Head of Urban Energy Solutions at UN-Habitat, said: “The Western Region Cameroon has a huge renewable energy potential exceeding 6 GW. The region receives only 100 MW of electricity from the national grid for a population of over 2 million people, resulting in a huge energy deficit.”

It is worth noting that The power of infinity is a joint venture of Egypt Infinity and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) will focus on power generation and distribution projects in the renewable energy sector Africa.
