Amazon loves to keep things in the family on Prime Day: Discounts on its in-house gadget lines are thick and deep during the retail giant’s annual members-only sale. That’s especially true for Alexa-enabled Echo smart home devices and wearables, which often enjoy Prime Day deals that top half off. New year-round lows are not uncommon.

In the hours leading up to Prime Day 2024 (scheduled for July 16 and 17), Amazon is in top form. The just-announced Echo Spot smart alarm clock is on sale with Prime for the first time, while several third-generation Echo Frames models are available for their lowest prices ever (again, only for Prime members).

Most notably, the Echo Buds active noise-cancelling headphones have hit a new all-time low of $34.99 for Team Prime — a 71% discount off the regular retail price of $119.99. Amazon has been touting early Prime Day discounts on the devices of “up to 55% off” some deals, but shoppers can apparently ignore that amount.

Bundles with Echo smart speakers and Echo Show smart displays are also starting to appear, though most of the devices themselves haven’t hit their rock-bottom prices yet. We’d hold off on adding them to cart in case they drop even further on Prime Day.

Once Prime Day begins, we also expect to see the return of record-low prices on the Prime-exclusive Echo Pop Kids and Echo Dot Kids devices that briefly appeared in late June.

The all-new Echo Spot is a smart alarm clock with a built-in speaker and a customizable digital face that displays colorful animations in response to various commands and questions. (It looks a lot like the improved Echo Pop.) You can control it with Alexa voice commands or by tapping its display.

Available in black, glacier white, and ocean blue, the Spot is on sale now for just $44.99 (regularly $79.99) for Prime members through July 17 “in celebration of Prime Day,” according to an Amazon blog post — a 44% savings. You can also pair it with the $19.99 Sengled smart bulb for a little less than $2 more.

The best deal on an Echo Show smart display

Why do we like it

The latest version of Amazon’s eight-inch smart display, set to release in fall 2023, features an edge-to-edge touchscreen, surround sound support, and a built-in smart home hub. There’s also a central 13MP camera for video calls. The Mashable team hasn’t reviewed the Echo Show 8, but our sister site PCMag called it “the best smart display for most people, thanks to its big sound, reasonable screen size, and extensive Alexa capabilities.” It received a 4.5/5 “Outstanding” rating and an Editor’s Choice nomination.

At $84.99 with Prime (or 43% off), this is the lowest price the Echo Show 8 has been since launch; it’s now $5 cheaper than it was last Black Friday. Look out for options to pair it with a Sengled smart light bulb (worth $19.99) or a Blink Video Doorbell (worth $59.99) for just $2 or $10 more, respectively.

All Echo Frames variants are currently on sale for a record-low price of $169.99 for Prime members — that includes Frames with prescription-ready lenses (normally $269.99) and with blue-light-filtering lenses (normally $299.99). However, only the former come with a free Echo Pop smart speaker, valued at $39.99.
