Among the thousands of discounted items, from essentials to quirky, are big discounts on a wide range of Amazon gear, including Kindle deals you won’t see at any other time of year. Savvy shoppers know that Amazon Prime Day is usually the best time to score a deal on a new Fire tablet or streamer. We’ve rounded up the best deals on our favorite Kindles, streamers, and tablets. I was Team Paperback until I tried my first Kindle, and now you can’t pry it out of my fingers. The Paperwhite is the best of the Kindles and our favorite e-reader overall. You’ll have to pay $20 more to get rid of the ads on the lock screen, but they don’t get in the way of your reading if you don’t want to spend more. There are two main versions — the basic Paperwhite and the Signature Edition (8/10, WIRED Recommends) , which has 32GB of storage for 16, wireless charging, and an auto-adjusting backlight. There’s also a kids’ version with a case, a one-year Amazon Kids+ subscription, and a two-year, no-questions-asked replacement guarantee. The Paperwhite hasn’t been updated since 2021, and we’re not sure when a new one will be, but mine still works just like it did on day one. We think it’s still a safe bet to buy.

The Paperwhite is best for reading. The Scribe (8/10, WIRED Recommends) with its 10.2-inch screen is also made for writing and drawing. It’s a Kindle at heart, so reading is smooth and there’s no lag when writing. Professional artists will want something better, but using it felt natural. The Scribe is very expensive, though, and the premium version with a pen, with an eraser at one end, costs another $30. You can’t write directly on the pages of a book, because the Kindle opts for sticky notes and it’s not waterproof.

We generally prefer Roku streaming devices, but if you tend to watch a ton of Amazon Prime content, get the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Of course, anyone can use it, but it clearly promotes Prime content. It has 16 gigabytes of storage, which should be more than enough for all your streaming apps and games. You can view your security camera feed and ask Alexa to perform various tasks, like ordering a pizza.

Amazon also has its own line of tablets, and in our guide we specifically recommend not buying one unless it’s Prime Day. Fire tablets are mostly crap, but if you’re just planning on watching Amazon content and doing basic work tasks like email, they’re pretty capable and scarily affordable. The Fire HD 10 is our favorite of the bunch, with a 1080p screen and 3 gigs of RAM, so it can handle watching movies and browsing multiple tabs. Like the Kindle, you’ll have to pay an extra $15 to get rid of the ads on the lock screen. There are 32GB and 64GB models available.

Fire HD 8 is the best value if you only need pill for watching movies and playing basic games, but you don’t want to spend a fortune. It hasn’t been updated since 2022, and it doesn’t have as nice a screen as the Fire HD 10. Still, it has about 12 hours of battery life and has other features of the HD 10 that we like, like USB-C charging and stereo sound.
