RAJANT AND ESG SOLUTIONS OFFER A NEW EVOLUTION OF SURFACE SEISMIC AND MICROSEISMIC DATA MONITORING FOR UNDERGROUND MINES

Malvern, Pennsylvania (USA), July 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Rajant Corporation, a pioneer of wireless Kinetic Mesh® networks, and ESG Solutions, an industry-leading provider of microseismic solutions for the oil and gas, mining and geotechnical industries, have completed another round of successful underground mine testing at NORCAT’s Health and Safety Center in Sudbury, Canada. With ESG’s implementation of Precision Time Protocol (PTP), Rajant can enhance customer technologies and programs—from communication and productivity to privacy and security—by wirelessly transmitting mission-critical data from mine to surface. PTP does not perform well and is unreliable with other wireless networking options. With Rajant Kinetic Mesh, PTP performs well, providing the mining industry with the microsecond precision needed to scale to more advanced, next-generation automation systems.

According to ESG Director of Engineering Chris Hawryluck, “Offering our mining customers wireless PTP time synchronization of our microseismic data, as well as wireless data transfer, will provide customers with the flexibility to quickly and cost-effectively expand their microseismic monitoring system to new mine workings, as well as reduce the cost of maintaining the network.”

A practical application is eliminating fiber runs from sensors in remote areas of underground levels. Data packets can now be transmitted wirelessly from the sensor to the nearest fiber switch in a substation or shaft station.”
