Galaxy Devices Could Get a Radical Makeover with Samsung One UI 7

New rumors claim that Samsung’s upcoming One UI 7 (Android 15) update will radically change the Galaxy user experience.
The software will supposedly refresh the drop-down menu and change the appearance of system app icons.
There were previously rumors that the release of One UI 7 was delayed so that Samsung could work on improving the AI in the One UI 6.1.1 update.

Android 15 has been the subject of discussion for several months now, and with the launch of Samsung’s latest devices, rumours have been circulating about changes being made to it.

The rumors originated from Ice Universe on the X, who stated that One UI 7 (based on Android 15) will be the “most changed” version yet (via 9to5Google). The tipster continued by saying that the company wants to “redraw” the app icons that users see when swiping on their home screens.

The rumors made their way to Weibo, where Ice stated that not only will the icon style be “changed,” but the dropdown menu will also be given new life.

The flip side of these rumors involves TheOneCID on the X, which suggests Samsung could take a few design cues from Apple. Some of the rumors seem to refer to a completely revamped control center, similar to what Ice Universe claimed on Weibo. For now, it remains to be seen what Samsung has planned for its major One UI 7 update, as we’re likely still a few months away.

A report from May claimed that Samsung may have begun internal testing of an Android 15 skin on the Galaxy S24. Regardless, rumors from the following month claimed that One UI 7 could be delayed due to the company working on its One UI 6.1.1 update. This software patch could have a lot to do with new AI-powered features, like the rumored “graffiti generation” image feature.

Just yesterday (July 15), Samsung confirmed the list of devices eligible for One UI 6.1.1, along with a few AI features that users can expect. While they all include camera and photo editing features, a company insider said that users can expect “Generative AI” features like Portrait Studio and Sketch to Image.

There’s still no word on when users will be able to expect One UI 7 or the AI-packed One UI 6.1.1 update. However, once the latter arrives, it seems reasonable to expect the Android 15 open beta update to begin rolling out shortly after.
