We encourage community members to consider applying for “rewarding and impactful” leadership positions in public service.

Cherie Whitter, Head of Public Service, said generational change was behind the significant change in Bermuda’s top government positions.

She added that the public service welcomed four new permanent secretaries last month.

This follows the retirement of long-time officials Randolph Rochester, Roza Azhar and Jasmin Smith, who served in various government roles for decades.

The new board members include Andrew Pettit, David Kendell, Lisa Smith-Clarke and Kirk Outerbridge.

The service is currently seeking to fill another vacancy due to a retirement. The deadline for applications is July 17.

Ms Whitter said: “The retirement of senior leaders who have served for decades and accumulated valuable experience and knowledge creates an opportunity and challenge for the public service to recruit, develop and retain the next generation of leaders.

“We are looking for senior management who can bring fresh perspectives, diverse experience and new ideas to the Bermuda Government.

“The Permanent Secretary is the most senior civil servant in a ministry, responsible for leading a number of departments and ensuring the effective delivery of government policies and objectives.

“They work closely with the Minister assigned to the ministry, providing impartial advice and support and ensuring that the Minister’s decisions are implemented.

“This position offers a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of Bermudians by contributing to the development and implementation of policies and programs that address the most pressing issues facing the Island.”

“For the second time this year, the opportunity to recruit for the position of Permanent Secretary is available. The recruitment process is open and transparent, and follows best practices in merit-based recruitment and selection.”

People with management experience at an executive level and a serious interest are encouraged to apply. For more information, visit www.govtcareers.gov.bm.
