Galaxy S24, S23 and More Get July Update in the US

Samsung’s July 2024 update has finally arrived to the US Galaxy S24 units. The company is also rolling out the latest security patch to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy S21 FE in the US. These devices have already received the update in several international markets.

Galaxy S24 Gets Samsung’s July Security Update in the US

The July SMR (Security Maintenance Release) is Samsung’s latest monthly security patch for Galaxy devices. It includes fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities, including six critical and dozens of high-severity vulnerabilities in the Android OS, Samsung services, and other system components that make up the entire device. The company has been rolling out the update to eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets since the beginning of this month.

Last week, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra received the update in various international markets. Samsung has now released it in the U.S. Both carrier-locked and unlocked variants are receiving the new security patch in the U.S. The updated firmware build numbers are S92*USQS3AXFC AND S92*U1UES3AXFCaccordingly. The official changelog confirms that the update includes only security fixes and no additional amenities.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to receive a major update in August. It should bring new Galaxy AI features and camera improvements from One UI 6.1.1, which debuted alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 last week. The update could also include bug fixes and performance improvements for existing camera features. The Galaxy S23 series will also receive a few compatible features from the new foldable models, including a few camera gadgets.

In the meantime, Samsung is updating the US versions of its 2023 flagships to the July security patch. The update is rolling out to carrier-locked units with build number S91*USQS4CXE9Galaxy S23 FE to receive July SMR with firmware versions S711USQS5CXF8 AND S711U1UES5CXF9. This is for Galaxy S21 FE G990USQSCGXF5. These devices should soon receive the update broadly across all wireless networks nationwide.

Global rollout to many more Galaxy devices

Apart from the aforementioned S-series devices, Samsung’s July update is rolling out to a number of other phones across various global markets. The Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy A73, Galaxy A52s, and Galaxy A35 are some of the ones receiving the latest security patch. The foldable devices have already received the update in the US. You can always check for new software updates in the Settings app.
