New AI-powered dynamic slotting simplifies warehouse re-slotting with a single click

WEXFORD, Pennsylvania, July 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Distribution center technology provider Lucas Systems today announced the launch of its next-generation Dynamic Slotting solution, which changes the rules of warehouse operations by enabling immediate decisions on re-slotting through the use of artificial intelligence.

With a few button presses on an easy-to-use interface, Lucas Systems software intelligently sifts through a wealth of inventory data to provide optimal slot recommendations. Results are available in minutes, while traditional slot analysis often takes months to complete using engineering or consulting resources.

Dynamic Slotting recommendations identify product movements that offer the greatest potential return. Hundreds of parameters are considered, including seasonality of demand, item size, SKU velocity, and costs. Similarity detection prevents related items from being placed next to each other to reduce picking errors.

Lucas Systems, which provides software to workers in more than 400 warehouses on four continents, says its Dynamic Slotting solution replaces what is typically a cumbersome, lengthy and expensive process that is rarely performed. Dynamic Slotting gives warehouse operators the ability to re-set slots every day, keeping warehouse slots in an optimal state.

Lucas Systems’ powerful AI-based Dynamic Slotting technology uses machine learning algorithms to recommend which products to move. It also learns the spatial characteristics of the warehouse and predicts when to complete a task based on activity levels. The model then continues to “learn,” providing continuous optimization as conditions change.
