Adobe: Prime Day Kicks Off with Record Online Sales

“E-commerce has been dominated by deep discounts this year as consumers look to get the most for their money,” Vivek Pandya, principal analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, said in an email. “This is driving demand for key categories like electronics and apparel, which have seen more moderate growth in recent months, while also attracting back-to-school shoppers at the perfect time.”

Salesforce: Discounts and Fixed Pricing Attract Customers

Salesforce analysis sent via email to The Age of Chain Stores indicates that average Prime Day sales prices remain unchanged, so for the first time in two years, customers are not paying more than they did the previous year.

Additionally, U.S. discounts increased 19% year-over-year to an average discount of 25%, while global discounts increased 12% year-over-year to an average discount of 19%.

“For the first time in two years, the average selling price of Prime Day items did not increase, making customers feel more confident about their purchasing power,” said Caila Schwartz, director of consumer insights at Salesforce, he said in an emailed statement The Age of Chain Stores“Early results showing strong growth indicate that consumer demand is pent up and deep discounts are attracting buyers.”
