BJP leader asks govt to implement free sand policy with full transparency

Senior BJP leader Pakalapati Sanyasi Raju is not happy with the Andhra Pradesh government's current sand policy.

Senior BJP leader Pakalapati Sanyasi Raju is not happy with the Andhra Pradesh government’s current sand policy.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former state treasurer Pakalapati Sanyasi Raju on Wednesday asked the government to provide sand free of cost, as promised by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) during the election campaign. Speaking to media here, he said the government collects transportation, seigniorage and other charges while boasting about its “free sand policy”.

“The government should allow vehicles of people building their houses to collect sand from the sand storage points set up by the government. Private transporters charge an additional amount over and above the charges fixed by the government. The cost of sand is almost the same as compared to the rates fixed during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule,” said Mr. Sanyasi Raju.
