360° Dog Camera + Dog Nanny

This bestseller not only lets you monitor your pet via an app, but it also features two-way audio so you can communicate with your pup when you’re out and about, and even throw them their favorite treats to keep them entertained. In fact, Country life The Pet Lab team loves this camera so much, we named it the best pet camera we tested this year. (Fear not, cat lovers; there’s a version for you, too, for the same price.)

Among the testers was my own rambunctious pooch, Smith. Over the past few months, my family has had a blast testing out the Furbo camera with him, and it’s become one of those gadgets I can’t live without. Smith stays home during the day, and I love checking in on him.

As you might expect from the name, the Furbo 360° rotates, which I find to be a very useful feature. It gives me a great view of the room and also has an unexpected safety benefit. Once, while I was out of town, my son noticed on the camera that our front door seemed to be open. I was able to turn the camera and confirm his suspicions: our dog sitter had left the front door wide open!

I’m really impressed with the video quality and notifications (although I turned off the barking dog alert because it barks…a lot). As for cons, there aren’t many, but there are a few things to consider:

First of all, the camera is powered by an electrical cord, so you need to keep that in mind when placing it.

Two, take the time to familiarize your pet with the Furbo camera before leaving him alone with his new watchful companion. I first tried the Furbo while I was on vacation, and I didn’t give Smith a chance to get used to it. I put him in the living room, where he spends most of his time, but the noise of the camera rolling and even my voice caused him to get up and move to another spot. (When I got home, I helped him get used to it.)

Finally, think about how you’ll use it. Furbo prices its 360-degree pet camera differently depending on whether you have a subscription. The Furbo 360-degree camera deal for $49 (51% off) requires an in-app subscription (Nanny Bundle). If you prefer a no-obligation subscription, the Furbo 360-degree camera is $129, which is still an impressive 39% off the full price of $210.

In either case, you get a ton of great features. However, if you want additional alerts for emergencies and home accidents (e.g. dog activity alerts, person alerts, carbon dioxide and smoke alerts, and more), the lower upfront price plus subscription is probably your best bet.

Bottom Line: This camera is a great value — especially with the Prime Day Deal. But hurry, because this price won’t last long.
