Athletes who have an Athlete Premium subscription can now measure their HRV every morning using just their phone’s camera. The Final Surge app can now determine an athlete’s HRV (heart rate variability), resting heart rate, and show them a Readiness Score, helping them make smarter, more informed decisions about their training and recovery.

Starting your day with a morning HRV reading is like unlocking a crystal clear window into your body’s true stress and recovery state. This practice is essential because HRV is a critical measure of autonomic nervous system balance and is highly sensitive to daily fluctuations.

With daily, regular readings, a readiness score from 1 to 10 is generated, along with a recommendation on how to proceed during the next training session. The readiness score is also color-coded (red, yellow and green) to give the athlete a visual indicator of readiness.

Coaches also have access to a daily view of their athletes’ heart rate variability and readiness score, giving them an additional tool to monitor their body’s recovery and help them make informed decisions about future training.
