JMG expands its regional presence with acquisition

JMG Group has acquired the general insurance division of Howe Maxted Group.

acquisition, hat trick

Based in Sidcup, Kent, Howe Maxted Insurance serves both business and individual clients and specialises in a range of areas.

This includes aviation, sports and leisure, contractors, incidental and charity insurance.

The agreement will see the company, led by directors Graham Smith and John Maxted, partner with JMG-owned JM Glendinning.

JMG Chief Executive, Nick Houghton, said: “I am delighted to welcome Graham, John and the team to the group.

“Their company has a rich history and by putting their customers and their team first, they have built an enviable reputation and a loyal customer base.

“Howe Maxted is exactly the type of company we would like to welcome into the group and I look forward to watching the business continue to grow.”

next step

Howe Maxted also has a financial services division, which will be acquired separately by Wren Sterling.

All 14 insurance staff will continue to be based at Howe Maxted’s headquarters in Sidcup and will be led by the existing management team.

Maxted said joining JMG will allow the management team to focus on the next stage of the company’s development.

“We were looking for someone who could ‘insulate us from the noise’ and give us more time to run and grow our business rather than focus on regulatory issues,” he added.

“I am pleased to say that we have found a partner in JMG and I look forward to starting this new chapter with their support.”
