Redmayne Bentley completes acquisition of Blankstone

British wealth management and brokerage firm Redmayne Bentley has successfully integrated the private client business of Blankstone Sington.

The milestone sees the business open its doors to 1,700 customers, create four new jobs and open a new office in Liverpool city centre.

Blankstone Sington went into special administration in mid-October last year, which resulted in assets and client money being frozen. The administrators – working with the council, the FCA and the FSCS – sought to identify a suitable firm that could take on the client’s bank and provide ongoing services.

Redmayne Bentley was declared a preferred firm in late April and has since been working with the trustees and other key parties to ensure a swift and smooth transition, enabling clients to recover their assets and cash.

In preparation for the arrival of clients and their assets, Redmayne Bentley has opened a new office in the market-leading Twenty Chapel Street office space in Liverpool city centre – other occupiers include Liverpool FC, Barclays Wealth and Link Group. The firm has also recruited former Blankstone employees Ben Taxman, Sarah Eden-Heyes, Enid Aubrey and Ali Keegan to act as client contacts, supported by the firm’s 200-strong HQ in Leeds.

Stuart Davis, CEO of Redmayne Bentley, said: “For former Blankstone clients, the completion of the transfer of their assets and cash to Redmayne Bentley hopefully brings an end to a chapter of uncertainty, frustration and worry. We are pleased to support them with our award-winning personal investment management, financial planning and traditional brokerage services.

“We are also delighted to welcome Ben, Sarah, Enid and Ali, who have over 100 years of combined industry experience. They worked with us to support a smooth client transition and now support clients by providing ongoing service.

“This acquisition supports our long-term growth strategy while maintaining our focus on delivering excellence.”

Founded in 1875, Redmayne Bentley is one of the largest independent private wealth management and brokerage firms in the UK, with over 150 investment professionals dedicated to serving clients and over 25 offices across the UK. The firm will celebrate its 150th anniversary later this year.
