Enel Green Power acquires 1GW solar-storage project in Australia

Enel Green Power Australia (EGPA), a joint venture between Enel Green Power and INPEX Renewable, has entered into an agreement with UK-based renewable energy developer RES to acquire RES’ 1GW Tallawang solar battery storage project, located near Gulgong in New South Wales, Australia, for an undisclosed sum.

The project, located in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), comprises a 500 MW solar park and a 500 MW/1000 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Commissioning will be aligned with delivery of the recently approved Central-West Orana Transmission Project, which is scheduled to begin construction in early 2025 and be completed by 2028, with the project expected to be fully operational by 2030.

Completion of the acquisition is subject to customary conditions for transactions of this type, including approval by the Foreign Investment Review Board.
