Reminders in iOS 18 can now be placed in the Calendar app, combining two key productivity tools

Apple’s Calendar and Reminders apps have long been mainstays of the company’s productivity offerings on iPhone, Mac, and beyond. In iOS 18, Apple is supercharging these tools by integrating them—optionally—into a single interface.

You can now view and manage all your calendar reminders and events right in the Calendar app in iOS 18.

Calendar reminders give you a more complete picture of your day

Have you ever looked at your Calendar app and realized that because it didn’t include your todos, it didn’t give you the best overview of your day? I’ve felt that way many times, so I’ve always appreciated apps like Fantastical that allowed me to integrate these two productivity tools.

Apple’s Calendar app, now available in iOS 18, offers the same comprehensive integration of To-Do and Events.

The Reminders app still exists as a separate app in iOS 18, so viewing reminders in Calendar is completely optional. However, if you want to combine the two tools, here’s how to do it.

Reminders that have a due date will appear in your Calendar on that day. This includes both all-day events and those with a specific time assigned.

As you might expect, reminders with specific times will show those times in Calendar and will be sorted next to events accordingly. So if you have a reminder for 6:00 PM, it will show up right below the event scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Reminders can be checked and unchecked directly in the Calendar interface. Small circles also make it easier to distinguish reminders from events.

End

Apple is excellent at integrating its various products across hardware, software, and services to provide a better ecosystem experience. The company has begun experimenting with integrating app features with each other, such as Apple News stories populating the Weather app.

Reminders and Calendar seem like natural choices for the next phase of app integration, and I’m excited to see what other changes will be made in the future.
