Chief Secretary reviews progress in setting up of KKGs across Jammu and Kashmir, KKG software/portal

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat where the progress made towards setting up Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKGs) across Jammu and Kashmir and the development of KKG software and portal being developed by Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG), Agriculture Production Department (APD) and SKUAST was reviewed.
The meeting was attended by, among others, Principal Secretary APD, Principal Secretary Finance Department, Vice Chancellors SKUAST-J and SKUAST-K, Director HADP Mission, Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Director Horticulture Jammu/Kashmir, Director Agriculture Jammu/Kashmir, Director Silk, Deputy Commissioners of all districts and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary received progress reports from each Deputy Commissioner regarding the establishment of KKGs in their districts. He directed them to establish all required IT infrastructure at the designated locations at the earliest so that these centres can be made functional before the launch of KKG software with portal.
The Chief Secretary has requested all DCs to submit the list of Krishi Udhyamis well in advance so that the KKG can start functioning by the stipulated time in the first week of August.
Dulloo said Kisan Khidmat Ghars, seen as farmer service centres, aim to revolutionise the support mechanism for agriculture by providing a range of essential services under one roof. He added that these centres are poised to become key hubs for providing farmers with access to farm inputs, information on modern farming techniques, market linkages and government programmes.
The Chief Secretary emphasised that the establishment of KKGs is an innovative and remarkable step, especially for the farming community, which will have a single solution for all its grievances and problems at these centres. He noted that the KKG initiative is part of the government’s larger strategy to empower farmers, increase agricultural productivity and improve rural livelihoods in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that KKGs will play a key role in bridging the gap between farmers and essential services, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural practices and economic growth in the region.
Underlining that it is a niche project under HADP, the Chief Secretary urged all Deputy Commissioners to work relentlessly for the successful launch of these centres for the benefit of every farmer of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary was briefed by the BISAG team about the progress made in implementing the KKG software with portal in Jammu and Kashmir. It was informed that the system will have innate features of farmer registration, sale of farm inputs, scheme implementation mechanism, advisory, skilling, expert consultation, digital marketing, decision support and development of smartphone applications.
In addition, the Deputy Commissioners informed the Chief Secretary about the progress made in establishing the KKG in their districts.
