Egypt’s Industry Minister aims to overcome challenges facing the sector

Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir recently met with the chairman and members of the parliamentary industry committee, chaired by MP Mohamed Halawa.

During the meeting, Al-Wazir stressed the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation in order to address challenges in the industrial sector and achieve significant progress.

Al-Wazir presented a comprehensive plan based on seven pillars aimed at developing the industrial sector.

He stressed the urgent need to overcome obstacles and work closely with relevant entities. The Ministry held extensive meetings with industrial investors, the Federation of Industries and heads of industrial chambers to effectively identify and resolve problems.

The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) also played a key role. Al-Wazir ordered the IDA to intensify its efforts, including working on Saturdays, to support investors and streamline industrial procedures. The rapid issuance of industrial licenses during the minister’s recent visit to the IDA had a positive impact on industrial investors, strengthening the authority’s reputation.

The Minister discussed the proposals, obstacles and issues related to the sector with the Senate Industry Committee. Key areas include speeding up procedures in the IDA, launching the Local Products Preference Law in ministries, increasing exports, promoting modern technology industries and increasing investment in Upper Egypt.

Al-Wazir called on the commission to present a list of identified obstacles and proposed solutions. The ministry is committed to supporting factories of all sizes, quickly resolving technical and administrative issues.
