Pixel 9 Leaks Suggest New ‘Pro XL’ Device: Is a Third Model in the Works?

It looks like Google is going to continue expanding the Pixel family.

At least that’s the case, if a post from the XDA Forums (spotted by 9to5Google) is to be believed. The post includes leaked images of what’s supposedly the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, which would be a new addition to the Pixel portfolio. Google is planning to unveil its latest Pixel lineup at an event on August 13.

Google has released four Pixel phones over the past year: the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel Fold, and the Pixel 8a. We already know for sure that Google will unveil the Pixel 9 Pro and a new Pro version of the Pixel Fold on August 13. Normally, there would be just the regular Pixel 9 (the theoretical Pixel 9a wouldn’t launch until next year), but if this leak is true, Google will also unveil the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Mashable Speed of light

Unfortunately, there’s not much we can glean from this leak. The model in the leak reportedly has 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, as well as a new internal modem from Samsung, according to 9to5Google. It’s hard to tell from the images without a side-by-side comparison how much bigger it is than the Pixel 9 Pro — or if there are any notable differences in the specs inside.

However, if you’re dreaming of a bigger Pro Pixel, this year might be the year for you.
