Ikea urgently withdraws popular product

Users of the product, which is available in Ikea stores across the country and online, have been warned of the possibility of serious injury.

You are urged to immediately stop using the Varmfront power bank as there is a risk of serious injury.

“Damaged Varmfront power banks may overheat and melt during use due to a manufacturing defect,” reads the Product Safety Australia warning.

“If the power bank overheats during use, there is a risk of serious injury due to burns and/or property damage due to fire.”

The product will be available for sale in Ikea stores nationwide and online from March 1 to April 1, 2024.

Affected models include a 10,400 mAh battery with model number E2038, identification number 70559612, and date stamps (RRRR) 2313, 2316, 2318, or 2319.

Consumers have been urged to immediately stop using the power banks and return them to an Ikea store for a replacement or a full refund.
