Alibaba’s Taobao competes with Temu and Shein by offering free international shipping

HONG KONG — Taobao, the flagship retail platform of Chinese group Alibaba, will introduce free overseas shipping on clothing orders as it tries to challenge e-commerce rivals Temu and Shein.

The program will launch on August 3 and will initially be available to buyers in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. The list will expand to additional Asian markets later this year, according to the company, which is currently trying to convince more retailers to participate.
