FWP News: Commission action on part of wolf trapping regulations to be postponed

HELENA – Furbearer and wolf hunting and trapping regulations for the 2024-2025 season are on the Montana Fish and Game Commission agenda for August 16. To provide the Montana Fish, Game and Parks Commission additional opportunity to evaluate wolf trapping dates and where those dates will apply, discussion of the agenda and a decision on those specific aspects of the wolf trapping regulations will be adjourned until the October 10 commission meeting.

All other elements of the 2024 wolf culling regulations, including hunting dates, culling amounts, culling limits, trapping, culling reporting and proposed changes, will remain on the agenda for the August 16 meeting.

By deferring commission action only with respect to trapping dates and the locations where they apply, wolf hunting regulations will be publicly available after the commission meeting on August 16, prior to the start of the wolf hunting season.

Proposed trapping dates and locations where they apply will be posted on the FWP website prior to the October meeting for the public to review and comment. After the October meeting, a supplement outlining the trapping dates and locations where they apply will be available prior to the start of the wolf trapping season.
