Apple Releases iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 Beta 4 to Developers

Apple has released iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 beta 4 for developers. The update comes a few weeks after the previous beta was released.

The new software updates were announced at WWDC 2024 and will include new features including advanced Home screen personalization, a revamped Control Center, enhanced privacy features and a new Passwords app, improvements to Messages and Mail, a redesigned Photos app, a new Game Mode, and many more generative AI features powered by Apple Intelligence.

How do I install the iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 beta on my device?

To install the developer beta update, you’ll need an Apple Developer account, which typically costs $99/year. If you’re signed into the same account on your iPhone, you should see the option to switch to the developer beta when you go to Settings > General > Software update > Beta UpdatesAlternatively, you can wait for the public beta, which is available for free.

In both cases, you can follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  2. Make a full backup of your device to iCloud.
  3. Charge your device to at least 50% battery capacity.
  4. Go to Settings > General > Software update.
  5. To obtain Download and install.
  6. Enter your passcode or use Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate.
  7. Your device will download and install the update. This may take a moment.
  8. Once the update is complete, your device will restart.
