NEW DELHI: Taiwanese fabless IC maker MediaTek, in collaboration with JioThings, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), has launched a Made in India smart digital cluster and smart module for two-wheelers (2W) to meet the rapidly growing demand for electronics in the automotive segment.

JioThings is a comprehensive Internet of Things (IoT) solution provider. This collaboration combines MediaTek chipset technology and JioThings digital solutions to strengthen its presence in the two-wheeler and electric vehicle (EV) sectors.

The companies, citing third-party estimates, said in a joint press statement that the Indian 2W electric vehicle market is estimated to reach Rs 10,000 crores by the end of 2025, with over 3 million vehicles on the roads, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 50% over the next five years.

They added that the collaboration will help meet the growing demand for electronic vehicles in the automotive industry.

“Jio Things is pleased to partner with MediaTek to revolutionize the mobile industry with our 4G Smart Android Digital Cluster, App Suite and Smart Module solutions,” said Kiran Thomas, President and CEO, Jio Platforms Limited.

Thomas said the collaboration reinforces the company’s commitment to India-led global innovation and elevating customer experiences in IoT technologies by integrating MediaTek’s advanced chipset with Jio’s digital solutions to set “new standards offering seamless performance and unrivaled customer experiences fit for the future of mobility.”

Under this long-term strategic partnership, the companies will deliver Android-based intelligent digital cluster solutions in India and the global market.

The JioThings intelligent digital cluster is powered by the AOSP-based AvniOS operating system that provides Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) with a competitive advantage backed by MediaTek chipset-level performance and support for key firmware/core OS versions.

The intelligent digital cluster and operating system enable real-time data analytics, configurable interfaces, voice recognition, and a comprehensive cluster operating system for seamless integration with vehicle controllers, IoT-enabled charging infrastructure, and an intelligent battery management system optimized for electric vehicles.

With this offer, customers will now have access to the ‘Jio Automotive App Suite’ which includes services like Jio Voice Assistant, JioSaavn, JioPages, JioXploR and other service packs.

“Our collaboration with Jio Things on a smart 2-wheeler digital cluster powered by MediaTek reinforces our commitment to innovation in the IoT and automotive sectors. This cluster aligns with our vision for the future of smart 2-wheeler dashboards,” said Jerry Yu, Senior Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Intelligent Devices Business Group, MediaTek.

“MediaTek’s collaboration with JioThings to design and manufacture a smart digital cluster and smart module for the two-wheeler market in India is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in India,” said CK Wang, General Manager, IoT Business Unit, MediaTek.
