100-Day Countdown: CIIE 2024 Highlights

The China International Import Expo will be held on November 5-10 IN ShanghaiFor the first time, there will be a special zone dedicated to new materials, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the general office of CIIE, the exhibition organizer.

This statement was made during a press conference July 24three days before the 100-day countdown to the event.

Among the highlights of this year’s exhibition, Sun noted that the automotive exhibition area will focus on exhibitors in the fields of unmanned driving, low-level economy and new energy storage for cars, showcasing key elements of future mobility. In addition, the health and elderly care zone will gather cutting-edge technologies and related products and services in the “silver economy.”

More than 150 companies have signed up for the show for the seventh consecutive year. New entrants from Fortune 500 companies such as Mitsubishi Corporation and NTT will join for the first time, along with industry leaders in the new materials and transportation sectors such as Nippon Paint, Invista, Aptiv and Alstom.

This year, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will receive greater support. They will be organized to participate in key purchasing events to increase effective communication with potential buyers. Areas such as the special zone for African agricultural products will be expanded and modernized to better showcase their unique products.

The special section of innovation incubation will focus on the digital economy, green and low-carbon technologies, life sciences and manufacturing technology. Tech startups will be invited along with high-quality incubators, innovation centers, makerspaces and accelerators from abroad to provide opportunities for small and micro enterprises.

Measures to facilitate entry and exit for CIIE

Shanghai A package of measures has been implemented to facilitate the entry and exit procedures of exhibitors and visitors attending the CIIE, said Shang Yong, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau.

The city has streamlined the procedures for issuing multiple-entry visas for foreigners participating in the expo. In addition, convenient services will be provided for the handling of residence and stay permits for foreign visa-free exhibitors and guests who need to stay outside the visa-free period.

For exhibitors and visitors who need to extend their visa or are interested in working or starting a business in Shanghaithe city will offer convenient document handling. At the National Exhibition and Congress Centre (Shanghai), the fair venue, as well as the hotline 12367, which will be available to CIIE, enabling both online and offline consultations.

Based on this, a “single window” service will be introduced for processing entry and exit documents. For foreign exhibitors and guests applying for an extension of a residence permit, the service will provide on-site acceptance, simultaneous control and immediate issuance.

Shanghai will also offer a green pass for invited foreign exhibitors and visitors. Those who have not obtained visas can apply in person or through inviters, in advance or on site, with an invitation letter and related documents that can be processed on site.
