Opening of Apple Research Lab, Focusing on Quality and Reliability

Apple first announced plans for the lab back in March.

Apple Inc. announced it is expanding its operations in China, opening new applied research labs, the latest move by the company to leverage the country’s manufacturing and research and development capabilities to make the best products.

The American company (…) will open a new applied research laboratory in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, providing greater support to employees in the region and deepening cooperation with local suppliers.

A local report at the time said Apple wanted to work on making its devices better able to cope with more challenging conditions, from intense physical activity to extreme temperatures.

Shenzhen Daily wrote on Twitter that the lab is ready to open.

According to Cailian Press, Apple’s newly established applied research lab in Shenzhen is set to open. The lab will focus on reliability, quality, and material analysis testing for products such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.

South China Morning Post (By Peasant) reports that Apple COO Jeff Williams was in town yesterday.

Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams met Wednesday with Meng Fanli, the city’s Communist Party secretary, according to an official statement from Shenzhen. Williams reportedly told Meng that Shenzhen was an important market for Apple, which intended to deepen cooperation with the city.
