France’s Bouygues beats half-year core profit expectations, Telecom News, ET Telecom

French construction and telecommunications group Bouygues on Friday posted headline results for the first half of the year that beat expectations, helped by strong performances from its energy unit Equans and its construction division, which offset a sharp decline in the real estate sector.

In late 2022, Bouygues acquired Equans from French energy giant Engie, as the family-owned group – already present in the civil engineering, construction, media and telecommunications sectors – sought growth in the energy transition and services space.

Operating profit from current operations (COPA) rose to €747 million ($811 million) in the first half, beating analysts’ consensus forecasts of €721 million.

Bouygues also confirmed the financial targets announced in February.
